수표지구 주상복합 | 서울시 중구   Animation (Wait! Be patient)

The site is located on a recently regenerated area adjacent to Chung Gye stream in Seoul. It is an 8.4 km long, modern public recreation space in downtown Seoul, South Korea. The massive
urban renewal project is on the site of a stream that flowed before the rapid post-war economic development required it to be covered by transportation infrastructure. The $900 million project initially attracted much public criticism but, after opening in 2005, has become popular among city residents and tourists. The area along the stream has been still being under developing since it opened.
The project is a mixed use development having over 500 flats and commercial shops. Two high rise towers sit in an orthogonal relation over the lower podium programmed for shops.

Overall design concept would be focused on three parts;
1. Proposing a new typology for high rise dwelling: various types have been conceptualized including terrace-type in the lower and the top areas. It will animate the city and serve various life styles.
2. Solution for the shops: the shops are distributed at from B1 to L2 around the periphery of the podium. The whole site is to be uncovered, and then the access to the shops at B1 is facilitated by a main sunken plaza while the ground level is connected by bridges. This kind of approach will give a better recognition to the shops though they are in the basement.
3. Effective layout and circulation for the basement car parks: the effective layout for the car parks was emphasised by the client to reduce the construction cost. To achive it, the overall setting is to be on the 90 degrees.
